Vincent Gramoli

Vincent Gramoli is the CTO of Redbelly Network and a Future Fellow of the Australian Research Council. He leads the Concurrent Systems Research Group at the University of Sydney. In the past, Prof. Gramoli has been affiliated with INRIA, Cornell, CSIRO and EPFL. He published more than a hundred scientific articles in distributed computing and security and received 3 Best Paper Awards. He teaches the Blockchain Scalability MOOC on Coursera, taken by thousands of students and authored the companion textbook published by Springer.

Blockchain marketing loves to tout high TPS numbers... but open source tools show that actual TPS is much lower across chains than what we hear publicly. So, why do people inflate them? Come to this session to dig into the real story behind TPS and understand why TPS is configured where it is, whether it is a good idea to increase it, and what kinds of problems arise when you do.
