Karen Chang

Karen Chang is the Vice President of Engineering at the Stellar Development Foundation (SDF), a non-profit organization that supports the development and growth of Stellar, an open-source network that connects the world's financial infrastructure. She directs and manages the engineering teams, responsible for delivering Stellar SDKs and APIs, full stack product, partner engagement and infrastructure, aligning with SDF’s overall mission. Karen has been a software engineer and worked in engineering management over the course of her career. She started learning programming on her first personal computer, a HP-150 building small applications in BASIC. She started her professional career as a Unix Systems Programmer at Netscape where she worked on scaling up the Netscape.com websites. She then spent some time at Goldman Sachs as a software engineer working on a variety of high throughput, low latency systems, including the core SecDB team working on Goldman’s risk management system for the asset management business.
